Group Class Descriptions:

Elements of Songwriting

Designed to encourage creativity while helping students develop efficient writing skills, this hands-on activity based class introduces participants to the techniques used by professional songwriters. Students ages 12 to 16 will learn how to create lyrical phrases and effective rhyme, recognize essential melody structure, overcome writer’s block, and notate lead sheets. This five-session class meets once each week for 60 minutes.

Musical Theatre Boot Camp

Designed to prepare students for musical theatre auditions and live performances, this activity based class introduces participants to the techniques used by professional stage entertainers. Students ages 12 to 16 will learn how to develop commanding stage presence, overcome nervousness and build confidence, incorporate natural body movement and dance with vocalization, act from dialogue to song, and use proper theatrical singing technique. This eight-session class meets for 60 minutes each day.
